MUSIC

Kids LOVE music! If you are covering WWI or the Great Depression, play some Irving Berlin as the students enter the room. If you are studying the Harlem Renaissance, why not play some Louis Armstrong during writing time or Ella Fitzgerald during morning work?
If you are trying to engage your students, music is a GREAT way to get them to pay attention and even give their opinions. Once you have them talking and participating, then steer them toward the topic you want to cover.
If you have tried this, please share your experience.
